Ok the obvious Star Wars

I love this first trilogy...and unlike many I liked the second that came out to. I mean most of the characters were type casted for the rest of their careers what was left, so tell me which Star Wars is your favorite movie and why.

Indiana Jones

Ok so back again with the Spielberg movies...I will admit I am not a huge fan of this movie. Don't get me wrong I like Harrison Ford, but these movies did not do much for me, and yet for some reason I can't wait to see the new one they are doing....I think it is because of better special effects. :-)

Porky's

Ok I am putting this one up a little early so I can jump in the shower. I rmember Pee-Wee most of all, but just the strange things is this movie would make your skin crawl, or you just wouldn't be able to stop laughing. I remember watching these movies on a program called USA Up all Night with Gilbert Godfey...anyone else remember.

Better Off Dead

Ok this is a movie that many people have watched...I have not...so I am taking what it says off the back of the box. After guys chick ditches him he thinkgs that sucide is the only answer however he is really inept and attempts only birn him more agony and embarrassment. So Tell me folks should I watch this movie? Remember I am still trying to get to 1000 comments.

The Breakfast Club

Hey, y'all. It's Diz, filling in for the 8:30 EST slot. I guess it's a tossup: movies or tv. I just had pick one of my favorite 80's movies to write about here while Meli takes some time for herself. The Brain. The Jock. The Princess. The Basketcase. The Criminal. I love them all. I quote them all. I have the poster on my wall, the t-shirt in my closet, and the soundtrack on my MP3 player.

What are some of your favorite quotes from this film? Here's a few to start you off:

"Don't mess with a bull, young man. You'll get the horns."
"Screws fall out all the time. The world's an imperfect place."
"So it's sorta social. Demented and sad, but social!"

We're all thinking of you, Meli!

Voltron!

Pandora here, pinch-hitting for Meli. Meli, I hope things are okay, sweets. Many thoughts for you! ::big hugs::

Anyway. Luka tells me Meli was talking about 80's TV shows. So, this is the one I remember. Do you remember Voltron? I think it was more an anime, but - oh well. I loved watching the weekly episodes. It was totally great. The people lived in this massive castle and then ran out to these huge, mechanical cats to fight evil. It was amazing. The cats came together to form one huge robot.

If any of you say - "What?! That's Power Rangers!" - I will tear your arms off. Power Rangers was a horrible, evil, bad rip-off of Voltron. Ugh. As soon as I saw one episode of that, I knew what it was. Evil Pure evil.

The Voltron episodes were amazing and fun. I hear it is coming out on DVD soon. Guess who's going to get it? Uh-huh. YOu got it. Me. As soon as humanly possible.

VOLTRON!

Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya!

You killed my father prepare to die!

Who doesn't LOVE The Princess Bride? It's a classic fairy tale! There's a princess, a giant, an albino, and dear 'ol Wesley! I don't think I could be more excited about this movie. And Fred Savage, our little boy from Wonder Years, such a cutie in this, asking Gramps to finish his story. :)

Some more Princess Bride quotes: here!

By the way, this is Suki from doing a guest post for Dizzy. Come back soon, Dizz, we miss you already.

Thank you

First off I want to thank everyone who has jumped in with little notice to help post on my site until 9:30pm est. I can never tell you how much hope I can repay you. For those that were in the SB and for those who are wondering what is going on, I received a phone call about an hour ago in regards to my Mom. I have kept everyone up to date in the past...and we were told that things were ok, however the call I received was that my Mother is in the hospital and has about 4wks to live if lucky. I want to share this with people out there because I am in a tough situation. I love my mom, but have a hatred for her as well. We have not talked for almost 10yrs, and part of me wants to make peace...the other part horriblily thinks that this is a punishment to her. I know that most people would tell me to make peace but it is hard after so much that we have been through, I am so confused and writing this helps put it in some perspective but I don't know...right now I don't think I know how to feel.

(This is a post to let everyone know what happened and why I will not be posting for a few hours and not related to the Blogathon)

Guest Posting Time

Hey Folks! It's Lewis (orange haired boy) here. Well, for the next few hours there will be guest posters here on Melissa's blog. Unfortunately, Melissa just received some horrible news and she needed to take some time to attend to a few things. I don't want to go into details as it would not be my place, but suffice to ask for you to send your thoughts and prayers to her and her family at this time.

I know I speak for everyone when I say, "Melissa, we love you dearly. May you be comforted at this time and find peace."

Spaceballs

Ok Classic Mel Brooks...who I love, and I think this will go down as one of the best spoof movies he did. I mean a druish princess, Mawg, DOT, use the schwartz. Where else would you go for a spoof like this. Tell me what your favorite Mel Brooks movie is.

Office Space

Ok if you have ever worked in an office or really a call center this movie was for you, to the destruction of the fax machine, and Miltons red stapler, to the ending scene of the building burning down. All office workers stood up and cheered and realted to this movie, to this day many office workers call this movie the best description of what really goes on in an office.

Earth Girls are easy

Ok so its a B movie however it is funny. To see Jim Carey and Jeff Goldblum so young, and just the bad music such as the Blonde song they do, and at the end she leaves in a Space Ship with no trouble and loves an Alien they shaved clean...wouldn't the hair grow back...but I digress...maybe I am evaulating it too much. However don' you ever have these questions.

E T

Ok this was the first movie I saw in a drive through theater, I saw this has double feature with The Incredible Shrinking woman. I mean to this day E.T. Phone home is still a common phrase, and we all remember the lovable little alien, with the glowing red heart.

Movies again

Ok next movie, 16 Candles, so how many people can tell me they the haven't seen this movie if you grew up in the 80's. I will tell you I really identified with this movie since my 16th bday came and went with no reconization. I will tell you that I cried and laughed with this movie and would still recommend it to anyone who loves those good ole teen romance stuff.

Switch to Movies

TV Shows have stopped comming to me so I decided to switch to movies. One of my favorite older flicks is War Games. Matthew Broderick...will always be good looking to me :-). I just loved the geekness of the movie, plus the idea that someone could hack into a puter and start WWIII and not even know it just playing a game seem perfectly possible for me. I think I will stay on movies for a while and see what I come up with.

Pleasantville

I took a break from everything to watch a movie so I thought I would post on the movie I am watching. I really like this movie. I like what it represents and the story it tells. I mean it goes into things without really going into things. I would highly recommend this movie to everyone. Going back to movie.

Just has a post I am posting the titles of shows an little things about them to encourage comments on what you all think.

Ok Break from the TV Shows

Ok I am going to post a great letter I got from Kelly in regards to the Blogathon today and what it means to her

Determination, strength, patience and unconditional love are just the surface of the lessons my father taught me. Things that would have come over time were packaged up and given to me as a gift, since for us there was no time. Father and daughter raced against an Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis time clock. All of life’s lessons were stressed in a short period of three years.

To sit down as early as the age of twelve to learn how to manage money and balance a check book seemed unappealing to me, yet was preparing me for stability by a terminally ill parent. There were so many things I could not wrap my mind around until I became a parent. The unconditional love you feel when you hold that newborn, enlightened me on the fear he with held me from knowing he may have felt. I learned so much more than he could have ever known.

His strength in his time of desperation empowered me to never give up. Life was to cherish and beautiful than to wallow in self pity. His patience taught me to listen to my inner soul and follow my dreams. I live my dreams because of him and am thankful to have the extended seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years to develop my children. He taught me that no matter how little, every moment is precious.

Thank you Dizzy for brining awareness!

The Muppet Show

Munamna, Yeah I know my spelling is bad. I loved this show...my favorite is Pigs in Space, however Gonzo was always my favorite character. Just because he wasn't afraid to be who he was. I remember watching episodes where liberace guest starred. It was a big deal to be asked on the show. What was your favorite part, or favorite character let me know.

Well talk about an early version of Quantum leap. Where spandex survived through all the time into the next century. I mean the special effects were genius...lol, SCI-FI did a marathon one day and I realized I just couldn't take my eyes off the screen. If anyone has idea for more shows leave a comment and let me know...I am always looking for more.

Smurfs

Our favorite blue people to love, Papa Smufr, Gabriel, and Gargumel. I mean how could you go wrong. Each show was the same however we were addicted to watch everyweek to see what would happen. A new came from that when ever someone dressed as a smurf we call them a smurf.

The Cosby Show

Ok talk about your popular family show in the 80-90's who doesn't remember the huxtables. Bill Cosby as the family man, though if you saw him alone in a live stand up the family man idea went quickly out the window. I remember watching the kids grow up and face things normal kids, and not so normal kids faced. I miss it and still watch it when it comes on TV.
