Yesterday I did something I havn't done in many yesrs. I went to Church. Now I am not a hugely religous person, if I was than this site would not be abuot a scorpio. However I do believe in God. I went to a Church with some friends and it was nothing like the traditional churches I had been to. There was a rock and roll band and a very young congregation average age about 35-40, and during the "sermon" it was almost just as if everyone was sitting around a table and talking. I had such a great experience, so I think I will continue to go and see what happens from there. It was great just to be around people my own age fo a little while, outside of work.
Thanks to all who posted, I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Since we aren't that far from eachother, I know all about the weather here girly.
I have found that our roof leaks. Yes, no matter how many times we have reported that to maintenance it still leaks. So I spend my time soaking up water with towels or emptying pots and pans (remind me again I need to move). It seems that because it rains in every direction in Florida, the water finds a way into every nook and cranny.
Bad weather around here usually means 'snow' - because if you thought New Jerseyans didn't know how to drive when the roads were clear, you've never been around them in the winter months ;)
I hate snow. Ok, that's not entirely true. I love playing in snow. I don't get to do that much now that I'm a "grown up". I hate driving in snow. I hate watching all the dumb people stock up on "necessities" like bottled water when a few inches of white doom is predicted. I hate having to clean off my car and dig out of a foot of the stuff when there is nowhere to put it. But mostly, I hate the fact that snowdays aren't nearly as fun when you aren't able to build a snowman, or a fort, and not worry about school for a few days. Spending your snowday figuring out how you'll be getting to work the following morning isn't worth it.
Here's to a mild winter in the northeast, in any case ;)
When I was younger and there were thunderstorms, my brother and I would gather with my mom in our livingroom and play boardgames with the neighbor girl (who was older, but home alone while her parents worked) until the lights went out.
After the power died, we would light candles and listen to the rain and thunder. We would tell stories to wait out the storm.
I always enjoyed those storms, which could have bene much scarier if not for the company and fun activities.
Hopefully the hurricane doesn't cause you too much trouble!
Come FFAF at Asymptomatic!

Whenever I'm threatened by storm,
heading for cover is usually the norm.
Although I did get in trouble,
and arrested on the double,
when my cover was the shower of the women's dorm!
(Hmmm, maybe I should stick to haikus)

Up here in the north woods, when someone mentions a storm it is usually a snow storm. There is the occasional summer wind and rain storm, but a few times a winter we get huge amounts of snow.
When the storm first hits, I usually just laugh at all of the dumbasses who think that just because they have 4-wheel-drives means they won't end up in ditches. My favorite line to them is "Four-wheel-drive doesn't do much good when your tires are skyward." I also make sure water, flashlights, and candles are handy. We keep food available that will survive a power outage should we have one and make sure we keep the outdoor gas grill shoveled out.
Then ... I wait for work to be cancelled.

I was watching CNN this morning as they were reporting on the big storm that is about to hit Florida. So I go to NOAA to check it out, thinking I know there is a Tropical storm but they couldn't be talking about that. Low and behold they were, talk about exageration in the media. I am not saying that these storm are not something to watch out for however....don't take it to the extreme for this one.
I just had to post about this, today I bought some lottery scratch off tickets...first I won $15 so I was like what the hell let me go ahead and get $15 worth of more tickets...I walked out winning $80 more dollars....somedays life is good.
I think my body is revolting against me. I got my bad tooth fixed...more to follow, I just got out of the er a couple of days ago for women problems, now I come down with a cold. Grrrr...but I will just take it one day at a time.Right now I have a dimema that I am dealing with. It isn't to personal to post per se, however it could be taken out of context so I am choosing not to post it. I just have to handle a situation one of two ways either delicately which I would prefer but probably wouldn't work, or ballsey which would work but could cost me more in the long run....hmmm decisions...*cough* *cough* damn cold.
