Doomsday has been set

You would think that by this title that I am talking about the end of the world, but nope I am talking about dental surgery. I am having my wisdom teeth pulled as well as two others that are bothering me. The date has been set for 09/30/2005 which also happens to be Free for all Friday, so it works out perfectly since I have been told I will be asleep for most of the day. I am so very scared since I am afraid of the anesthesia as well as waking up and being in pain, I think everything will be okay...but still very very scared.

Not fun. Make sure you have someone to care of you afterwards. And takes lots of pain pills.

My current roommate and my ex-roommate have both had their wisdom teeth out recently. The doctor they used was excellent - little to no swelling, and minimal need for Percoset. Laura went under; Tanya didn't - neither have any regrets.

Good luck, and try not to be too scared :)

Everything will be OK. Just keep telling yourself that. I had mine cut out a few years back, and I'm so happy I had done that. I wasn't in pain, didn't need pain meds, everything went much better than I had thought.

Hi you will be fine. I had impacted wisdom teeth. No problem pain free really and vicodaine should ease any discomfort. Allthough due to Katrina. The tooth fairy will be slipping a ATM Card under your pillow.

I feel for you!
I've been putting mine off for years.
Good Luck.

Wisdom tooth removal. It's never nice but if yours goes as well as mine did then it'll soon all be over and absolutely NO pain afterwards, which was nice.

Hope it all goes well though. :)

That's SO weird Meli. I am going for the same reason a week after you. I have to have my wisdom teeth plus two more pulled out !!! And I should have done (at least my wisdom) when I was pregnant with my daughter but I didnt so now ,9 years later the situation is much worse and I am SO dreading that day. Tell me how it goes hon ok? Good luckkk

Now is the time to do it, before you get older. I had my impacted wisdom taken out at 45 and it would have been much easier 15 or 20 years ago.

Good Luck and don't worry.

Good luck! Dentists scare me, too!

Ouch! - I had my wisdom teeths pulled out last year - but they were really bothering me - so it was very nice to have them removed - except from being a numbskull all day ;)

So far I've only had two of my wisdom teeth cut out due to the fact that they were wrapped around nerves on my bottom jaw. Hopefully you'll do better than me, I woke up in the middle of it right after they got done breaking the first tooth and bit the dentist. I still have 2 more to go and Im not looking forward to it. Hopefully they won't come in at all.

I had mine pulled out when I was 16. Yes, you do sleep all the day it seems! Don't worry, the going to sleep is easy. I was terrified, but I'm still alive some 11 years later (did I just give my age away?) You'll be fine!

You are going to get pain relieving medicine after the operation :) Lucky you

After having a wisdom tooth pulled, I lost the feeling in half of my bottom lip. Now two years later, it's still pretty numb. I'm thinking about suing.

Shit. I don't want to scare you. But I got screwed.

It's not so bad really... I had all 4 taken out while I had braces in. Now that was interesting. I didn't have any pain though. They gave me fiorinal (sp?) for the pain, but I never used it. I did keep it around though for the occasional migraine. It worked great on those.
