Katrina and Politics take two

Okay maybe I did not explain myself properly in the first post or maybe it is being misinterrupeted. I am not saying that we should not hold those responsible for the slow response. What I am saying is that we should first concentrate on solving the problems, finding people, clean up and providing help to those who need it. Once those things are being taken care of...let the blame game role.

Neither political party should point fingers. The mayor and governor (both democrats) failed to issue the evacuation early enough to move the folks without transportation (2000+ buses in New Orleans at their disposal). And the federal response was too slow (Republicans get the blame for this since GWB is at the helm). More wrangling about who acted when will get hashed out in the coming weeks.
One thing I was surprised at was how quickly the political sniping began. The blame game should just now be starting now that the majority of folks are out of harm's way. Instead we are over a week into the blaming.

Hey there, little typo in the title?

Yes! That's exactly what I'm talking about. Thank you!

I agree with you!
Let's leave politics for a while and just do what it takes to help the victims and restore the beauty of the Gulf Coast.

We can later run after people who are accountable for any wrongdoings or inefficiencies.

Priorities, priorities, priorities!

Yes, absolutely! It's easier to find out who's to blame for the poor/delayed response later anyway, when everyone can stand back and take a sober look at the situation.

I've done all I can from philly, as have most people in their own cities. there's no reason why we can't start a discussion regarding blame and the slow response. these blog discussions will NOT have an impact the porblem solving.
